While researching earth strata as a modeling subject for a custom order, I remembered a road trip my father and I took to the painted desert. The strata of the painted desert are unique for the variety of minerals they contain which creates a profusion of color. Strata are uniquely appropriate as a subject for glass art interpretation because the chemistry we use to create these designs are derived from the same materials found in strata. 4" W x 10.75" H
